Skull Cicada.
Inspired by the Hawkmoth, aka, the Death's Head moth, I thought the exoskeleton of a Cicada, really lent itself to the design as a sculptural, hard surface reimagining.
I scanned an actual Megapomponia cicada specimen, using macro photogrammetry as the basis for this model.
Originally printed on a Form 2 with a 40cm wingspan, I have scaled it down, to be printable on small volume printers like the Phrozen Sonic Mini, or Elegoo Mars. I have strengthened and increased the thickness of any parts that became too thin at the smaller scale. Of course, it can still be printed at large scales too.
Default scale is 250mm wingspan. Largest parts are the wings, at approx 120mm.
